Grady Layton Skinner, 63, of Arcadia, Fla., passed away Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013, at DeSoto Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness.
He was born Sept. 20, 1949, in Highlands City, Fla., and had lived in Arcadia for the past 53 years.
Grady is survived by his sister, Edith Skinner Mercer of Arcadia; brothers, Robert (Patti) Skinner of Summerville, N.C., and Carl (Tami) Skinner of Arcadia; his sister-in-law, Raynae Skinner of Naples, Fla.; his former wife, Janet Skinner of Bartow, Fla.; and a large extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, LeRoy and Madeline Skinner; his sister, Willie May Jeffries; and his brother, Lamar Skinner.
Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013, at Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home located at 50 N. Hillsborough Ave. in Arcadia. Services will follow the Visitation at 4 p.m. in the Chapel of Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ellis Cross officiating. Burial will follow in Joshua Creek Cemetery.
