Carla D. Murphy, 63, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, in Arcadia, Fla.

She was born in Arcadia Dec. 16, 1949.

Carla was the office manager for Turner Realty. She enjoyed fishing, cooking and spending quality time with her family. Carla was a hard worker and an excellent mother who served as matriarch of her family when it came to maintaining peace between them. She was a faithful member of Brownville Baptist Church in Brownville, Fla. Carla’s favorite Bible passage was Matthew, Chapter 5, Verse 9: “Blessed Are the Peacemakers, for they shall be called the Children of God.”

Survivors are her children, Jake (Holley) Murphy of Pottsboro, Texas, and Kim (David) Paul of Arcadia; sisters, Lee (Gene) Rich, Kay (Robert) Reed and Beth (Robert) Staton, all of Arcadia, and Cindy (Julian) Wright of Punta Gorda, Fla.; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Carla was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Allison Murphy; her parents, Archie and Mildred Thompson Tisdale; and brother, George Murphy.

Visitation will be conducted from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at the Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home Chapel, 50 N. Hillsborough Ave., Arcadia. Graveside funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013, at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Arcadia, with the Rev. Matt Roberts and the Rev. Roy Arms officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at www.pongerkaysgrady.com.

I would like to extend my deepest sympathy to the Tisdale and extended family on the passing of Carla.She was a longtime friend and a gentle caring lady and she always greeted me with a warm hello and smile.She will be greatly missed but now she is in Gods arms and her pain and suffering is over may the Lord bless and give comfort to those family members and friends who remain.
