At the meeting of the DeSoto County Historical Society held April 11, Ed C. Uhland and Bucky McQueen presented the history of the southwest Florida’s early railroads.

The Florida Southern Railway was chartered from Gainesville to Charlotte Harbor, and Colonel Isaac Trabue’s influence brought the tracks south to Punta Gorda.
