A t a recent art show, I asked James Brannon who was a really good wood carver with whom I could talk about the upcoming woodcarvers show. James is a carver who I admire and about whom I have written in the past. Without any hesitation he pointed to Roger Kerns, and added: “He carves canes.”

A few days later I drove out and visited Roger and his wife Bettie, who, it turns out, weaves baskets, so I hope to interview her in the future when she has more work available.
