The 2013 DeSoto County Relay for Life, to be held on March 23 and 24, will be here as quickly as the changing seasons. Soon you will be seeing signs of the color purple throughout the community as teams get into full swing with their fundraisers. This yearly event is when the whole county pulls together to raise much needed funds to fight and eradicate the dreadful disease of cancer and its consequences. Until a cure is found, many lives will be touched with the overwhelming heartache of enduring or watching a loved one through their battle.

Recently, members of the 2013 Relay committee gathered at Beef O’Brady’s in Arcadia to organize the upcoming Kick-off Party held from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Oct. 18 at the Family Service Center Annex, 310 W. Whidden St. in Arcadia. Ideas were exchanged in hopes of making this Relay the best ever. Relay 2012 was a huge success but with the enthusiasm and productivity shown at the meeting, we are confident we will exceed our efforts from this year.
