Summerlin, FSC students pack goodies for troops in Afghanistan

Members of the Summerlin Academy LaCrosse teams, along with parents, coaches, teachers and other Summerlin students, teamed up with three members of the Florida Southern College LaCrosse team for a packing party at the Academy Dec. 7. The group are packing about 150 boxes of toiletries, sports equipment and snacks, for troops of the 101st Airborne Screaming Eagles, based in Afghanistan.

Three members of the Florida Southern College LaCrosse team joined the students of Summerlin Academy Dec. 7 for a packing party, preparing "care packages" for troops of the 101st Airborne in Afghanistan. The group is sending out 150 boxes of food, sporting goods and toiletries working through the America Supporting Americans group. (l-r) are Chris Murphy, Brad Fetti and Brad Gyser.

The room was a-buzz and the organizational skills top-notch at Summerlin Academy Dec. 7, when Summerlin students and three from Florida Southern College joined in packing “care packages” for the troops of the 101st Airborne Screaming Eagles- battery unit 2-320.

Initially a project of the Summerlin LaCrosse teams, other students at the school have joined in, and as well, three lacrosse players from Florida Southern helped out.
