Polk State College freshmen Maggie Roberts (Lakeland/Lake Gibson) and Rose Stevens (Bartow/Mulberry) added two more honors to their long softball resumes this week.
The pair were named National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Americans.
Stevens, an outfielder and leadoff hitter for Polk State College, was named an NFCA Second Team member, while Roberts, a power-hitting third baseman, was named to the NFCA Third Team.
“I’m happy,” said Polk State College softball coach Jeff Ellis. “They both got some recognition. It’s good for them and good for the program.”
Stevens hit .455 for the Eagles. She broke the school’s stolen base record and is tied for fourth place in the NJCAA with 62 stolen bases in 62 games for the Suncoast Conference co-champions.
Stevens also led the Eagles with a team-record 97 hits. She received Polk’s Golden Spikes Award.
She is an NJCAA Third Team All-American.
Roberts set the school record for doubles with 23 in 62 games. She also hit a team-high .479 and belted a team-best 10 home runs.
She was named Polk’s Female Athlete of the Year and claimed Polk’s Silver Slugger Award. She is an NJCAA Second Team All-American.
The two were both named All Suncoast Conference, All State, Gulf District First Team members and are All Tournament Team selections.
