George Zink
Mr. George W. Zink, 91, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, due to complications from a fall.
A native of Plainville, Conn., George settled in Brewster, Fla., after the war and later moved to Fort Meade in 1958.
George retired from American Cyanamid Company as a maintenance superintendent after 38 years. Among his many achievements with his work, George helped found ACCO Federal Credit Union where he served as loan officer for 33 years.
He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps, and a longtime member of the American Legion, where he served as chaplain for Post #23 in Fort Meade.
Mr. Zink was a member and elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Fort Meade, and he was proud to be a
26 gallon blood donor at Citrus Regional Blood Center.
George is survived by his wife of 68 years, Luwahna Smith Zink, Fort Meade, Fla.; son, George E. Zink (Bonnie), Cape Coral, Fla.; daughters, Myra Webster (Les), Cedar Park, Texas, Rebecca Hodges (Dale), Geneva, Fla.; sister, Dorothy Turner, Lexington, SC; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Visitation is Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, at Hancock Funeral Home in Fort Meade from 1-2 p.m., with funeral services beginning at 2 p.m. at the funeral home chapel.
Interment follows in Evergreen Cemetery with military honors.
