Lorraine “Shorty” Mary Lewis

Mrs. Lorraine “Shorty” Mary Lewis, 85, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012, at George Forsyth Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale, Fla.

Mrs. Lewis was born in Unionville, Mich., on May 19, 1927, and moved to Fort Meade, Fla., from Michigan in 1972.

She was a retired Nurse’s Aid at the Hills and Dales Hospital in Cass City, Mich.

Mrs. Lewis was an active member of the First Church of God, Fort Meade where she was also a longtime Sunday School teacher.

Mrs. Lewis was preceded in death by her sons-in-law; Steve Kester and Brian Damon.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Floyd J. Lewis, Fort Meade; sons, James Lewis, Swainsboro, Ga., Perry Lewis and fiance, Virginia Dear, Fort Meade, Fla.; daughters, Carol Childress and husband Donny, Fort Meade, Fla., Susan Damon, Fort Meade, Fla., Nancy Hershberger and husband Roy, Nappanee, Ind., Mary Lou Dubson, Elamogordo, NM, Minnie Kester, Lakeland, Fla.; brother, Allan Ewald, Caro, MI; sister, Shirley Daniels, Unionville, Mich.; Fifteen grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Visitation: 6-8 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, at Hancock Funeral Home, 945 E. Broadway, Fort Meade.

Funeral: 10:30 a.m., Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, at the First Church of God, Fort Meade with Rev. Travis Risner officiating.

Interment: Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Fort Meade.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make donations to the First Church of God, 215 S. Perry Ave., Fort Meade, FL 33841 or to the George Forsyth Good Shepherd Hospice, 105 Arneson Ave., Auburndale, FL 33823.
