Donald Eugene Pollard

Mr. Donald Eugene Pollard, 70, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center of heart failure.

Mr. Pollard was born in Frostproof, Fla., on July 18, 1942, and was a lifelong resident of Fort Meade.

He retired after 33 years as an electrical superintendent for Cargill Fertilizer.

Mr. Pollard was a member of First Assembly of God in Bartow, a U.S. Navy Veteran, and a graduate of Fort Meade High School, class of 1960.

He loved to hunt and fish, and his children classify him as the Greatest Dad in the World.

Mr. Pollard is survived by his wife, Gail Pollard; sons, Jim Pollard and wife, Jessica, Michael Pollard and wife, Heather; daughters, Cynthia Thompson and husband, Brett, Candi Pollard and husband, Dave, and Lindsey Woodward; brother, Eddie Pollard; grandchildren, Kitty, David, Joshua, Madison, Mason, Makayla, Chase, Autumn, and Kyle.

Memorial service: 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, at Hancock Funeral Home, 945 E. Broadway, Fort Meade with Rev. Bill Whitener officiating.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make contributions to Bartow First Assembly of God, 915 S. Broadway, Bartow, FL 33830.

Hancock Funeral Home, Fort Meade, is in charge of arrangements.
