Last week we touched on the Neighborhood Watch Program and I encouraged you to get involved if you weren’t already. I touched briefly on the issues facing us today in Bartow, which we at the Bartow Police Department believe is best dealt with through prevention. I was talking about theft and burglary. This is where the community must help us if we are going to be successful. Soon we will be implementing some new technology that will not only help you as a property owner, but help the men and women of the Bartow Police Department in locating and recovering your property if it is stolen. It is called “CopDots.”

“CopDots” is like DNA for your property. The Bartow Police Department has signed on with this company to implement the program here locally. The product is designed to provide the community with the ability to mark personal property that is undetected by the naked eye, but can be visibly seen by law enforcement with the use of special equipment.
