One of those attending the Worm Charming event at the Bartow Public Library takes a close look at the earthworms there during the Worm Chasing event there. Each student, of which there were about 15, got to make an earthworm farm in a plastic case to take home with them.

It’s the Dog Days of Summer today at 10:30 a.m. Come meet the newest addition to our Paws to Read program – Shelby, a Great Dane, of Therapy Dogs, International. Read aloud to her and receive a free book. Shelby will be in the Children’s Department the third Saturday of every month.

Story times have been a hit this summer, so don’t miss your chance to bring your kids. The 3-5 year olds meet at 10 a.m. Tuesdays in July and feature stories, finger plays, music and films. The 6-8 year olds meet at 3 p.m. Tuesdays and feature stories, music, games, crafts and films. The 18 months-2 year olds meet at 10 a.m. Thursdays in July and feature nursery rhymes, finger plays, music and bubbles.

Our Super Summer Show on Wednesday is 9th Period Shows: Tomb Reader. Tour the world’s greatest archeological finds using comedy, magic, music, puppets and live animals. The show begins at 10:30 a.m.

Thursday is our Mother/Daughter book discussion. This month’s selection was “Meet Samantha: An American Girl.” Book discussion begins at 4:30 p.m.

There’s only a week left to our Summer Reading Program. It ends July 31. Get your last hours of reading done and turn in your reading log before you miss out.
