Mariana John (center) and Markita Sams put their hands over their mouths because they knew the answer to this question as Alan Vaughn thinks. The three played Anti Valentine's Day @ Library Thursday at the Bartow Public Library and though Alan got this question wrong he won the game, earning 900 points. Markita was second with 800 points and Mariiana was third with 600 points.

We had a very full week here at the library. On Tuesday Bartow Middle School vocal students performed for our Brown Bag Concert Series. They were delightful and truly talented. I had the chance to catch a couple of their songs and was amazed at such young talent. We also had one of our biggest attendances for it. I am so pleased that this program continues to grow. Please share this wonderful program with your friends so we can continue to grow and support the musical talent of our community.

The younger generation also had some fun activities here this week. Tuesday was a Mad Hatter Tea Party complete with flamingo croquet, Pin the Grin on the Cheshire Cat, a Cards craft and of course, a tea fit for a Queen.

Thursday was our Anti-Valentine’s Day Jeopardy for teens. All the questions were void of any mushy or love stuff and quite funny to listen in on.

The Polk Works Mobile One-Stop Bus will be outside our library on Feb. 19 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. The unit allows individuals to search for jobs online, prepare resumes and submit applications for open positions. All Polk Works services are free of charge. The Mobile One-Stop unit has a full computer lab to assist job-seekers. For information on the Polk Works Mobile One-Stop unit call 863-508-1100.

Join us for story times this week with Miss Melissa. Wednesday at
10 a.m., for 3-5 year olds, is a winter themed story time complete with stories, finger plays, music and films. Thursday at 10 a.m., for 18 months to 2 years, is Book Babies featuring nursery rhymes, finger plays, music and bubbles.

Anyone know a young scientist with a sweet tooth? Next week on Thursday will be Mad Science: Candy Chemistry. We do ask that you pre-register your children so we can make sure we have enough supplies. This program is for 9-12 year olds and will begin at 4:30 p.m.
