On Valentine’s Day, Dustin Broome got a piece of chocolate and a wife at the Polk County Courthouse. His wife, Dewana got a rose. And together they were flashed by many cameras taking their photo as the media crowded into the Marriage Office to record the first couple getting married in what will be a new yearly event, according to Stacy Butterfield, the Clerk of the Court and County Comptroller. Weddings on Valentine’s Day will be more elaborate in the future.

“Next year we’re going to have a group wedding,” Butterfield said. “And there will be a reception, but this year we just started it and we’ll need more time next year.”
